Project Information

Council is asking the community for feedback on an amended chapter of the Cessnock Development Control Plan (DCP) in regards to Temporary Events. The updated chapter has been drafted as the original was created in 2011, is outdated and includes information that no longer matches current NSW planning laws.

Council had been working on a plan to allow some smaller events on private land without needing a development application (DA), but state agencies raised concerns about how the impacts of these events would be managed.

To avoid confusion and provide clear guidance, Council has created a new draft version of the DCP for temporary events. This new version will replace the old one (Chapter D8) and remove the outdated DA exemption.
