Consultation has concluded on this project.
Council is proposing the construction of a pedestrian refuge island on Allandale Road in Cessnock near the bus shelter at the end of Dover Street.
The purpose of the pedestrian refuge is to improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists using the recently constructed shared path that connects Bridges Hill Park to Wine Country Drive.
The proposal plans (view them here) includes the construction of an island in the centre of Allandale Road as well as kerb ramps on the footpaths.
The proposal document also
Includes the signs and road markings that will be installed
Indicates the areas of road shoulder where parking will be prohibited, which are indicated through no stopping signs that can be seen on the plan
Indicates that stopping or parking will not be permitted in front of 95, 97, 99 and 101 Allandale Road
Left and right turns into and out of driveways along Allandale Road are not affected by the proposed pedestrian refuge.

The Allandale Road Pedestrian Refuge Island project is on public exhibition from 19 October to 22 November 2023.

Any views expressed in written submissions will be considered by Council before a final decision is made.
