FAQs
Where is Bridges Hill Skatepark?
Bridges Hill Skatepark is located at Bridges Hill Park in Cessnock. The skatepark can be accessed by the stairs on Victoria Street.
Why does the skatepark need to be upgraded?
An audit of the City's skateparks in 2019 found that the condition of Bridges Hill Skatepark was poor, the design was outdated, a number of high priority items needed to be addressed and there were functional issues with the facility.
How will the skatepark upgrade be funded?
The design and construction of the upgraded skatepark has been funded through Department of Regional NSW Stronger Country Communities Fund Round 5.
Has there been any Community Engagement on this project?
Community engagement was undertaken during the development of Council's Skate and BMX Strategy (2020) and substantial engagement was held with young people through workshops and questionnaires. Engagement data indicated that there was a preference for transition and street style elements at skateparks and future designs should be inclusive of all wheeled sports (e.g. scooter and BMX riders).
Predesign consultation workshops, including drop in sessions and design workshops, were also held on 14 August and 21 September 2023 to inform the concept plans.
