Draft Parks Plan of Management

The Draft Generic Parks Plan of Management (PoM) captures Council-owned and managed parks and playgrounds in the Cessnock Local Government Area (LGA) and provides a framework that details how these sites will be used, managed and developed. The Plan presents a consistent framework for decision-making, identifying permissible uses and ensuring activities and development complies with legislative requirements.

Council is publicly exhibiting the Draft PoM, providing an opportunity for public submissions before finalising the PoM and seeking consent to adopt the Plan of Management.

The Local Government Act 1993 requires Councils to prepare Plans of Management (PoM) for all land classified as community land and the Crown Land Management Act 2016 specifies that Councils are to include all Crown land they manage within a PoM.

An independent public hearing was held on Tuesday 2 December in accordance with the Local Government Act 1993. A report regarding the hearing is available here.

Should you intend to make a submission on the draft Plan of Management in writing you may do so by Friday 19 December. Please quote “Draft Generic Plan of Management - Parks". Submissions should be addressed to The General Manager and can be submitted via:
