Facility Naming Proposal - Molly Worthington Netball Facility
Consultation on this project has concluded. Thank you for your feedback.
Project Information
In line with Council’s Naming of Asset’s Policy, Council is consulting on a proposal to name the new netball facility currently under construction within Booth Park Kurri Kurri, the Molly Worthington Netball Facility. The proposed name has been requested by the Kurri Kurri Netball Association and recognises Molly Worthington’s significant contribution to the development of netball in Kurri Kurri.
Molly Worthington was a founding member of the Kurri Kurri Netball Association and played a key role in bringing netball to the local community. Her dedication was instrumental in the establishment of the current netball courts on Maitland Street, which were named in her honour.
With the naming of the new facility, the existing netball courts on Maitland Street Kurri Kurri will no longer carry the Molly Worthington name. Instead, her legacy will continue through the naming of the new, purpose-built Molly Worthington Netball Facility located within Booth Park, Kurri Kurri. The proposal does not change name of Booth Park.
The new netball facility will include:
- 12 new floodlit plexipave netball courts
- A multipurpose half-court
- A modern amenities building featuring storage, canteen, changerooms, referee’s room, first aid room, meeting space, office, and toilets
- Formalised car parking
- Park furniture, landscaping, and stormwater infrastructure
Construction is expected to be completed late 2025.
