Consultation has concluded for this project.
Council is proposing the construction of a pedestrian refuge island on Maitland Road in Cessnock near the intersection of Koree Street.
The purpose of the pedestrian refuge is to improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists using the recently constructed shared path that connects Bridges Hill Park to Wine Country Drive.
The proposal plans (view them here) includes the construction of a kerb extension in the road shoulder and the construction of an island in the centre of Maitland Road

Indicates the areas of road shoulder where parking will be prohibited
Indicates that stopping or parking will not be permitted in front of 271, 288 and 290 Maitland Road
Indicates that stopping or parking will not be permitted in part of Koree Street
Indicates that vehicles on Maitland Road will be prohibited from turning right into Koree Street

Any views expressed in written submissions will be considered by Council before a final decision is made.
