North Rothbury/Branxton Locality Boundary Amendment
Consultation on this project has concluded.

Project Background
To cater for planned future growth, this locality change is proposing an adjustment to the current boundary of Branxton and North Rothbury.
As ‘Annexure A - Official Boundary Map’ shows, this boundary adjustment proposes to extend North Rothbury in a northerly direction resulting in part of the Hunter Expressway and rail corridor forming the new boundary of North Rothbury and Branxton.
This locality change will help reduce confusion between the existing Branxton commercial precinct and the commercial precinct within the Huntlee development site. This locality change will also avoid possible disrupted service provision, including Australia Post, utilities and Emergency Services.
A letter was sent to affected residents/businesses in July 2024 detailing the proposed changes and how the changes would impact them.
Once a final determination is made, and if the locality boundary is formally gazetted, Council will be in contact with the impacted land and business owners to advise the outcome and next steps including updating your property address and notifying stakeholders.
Project Information
The Geographical Names Board (GNB) is seeking community feedback on the proposal to amend the suburb boundary between Branxton and North Rothbury.
The current suburb boundaries have been in place for several years. However, the area has since been subdivided as part of the new development precinct of Huntlee and the boundaries are no longer appropriate.
The proposed boundary amendment will rectify this issue by extending the northern boundary of North Rothbury to include parts of the Hunter Expressway and the rail corridor.
The boundary amendment will facilitate the allocation of addresses to the new development, support future growth and reduce potential confusion in the provision of services.
GNB is seeking feedback to gauge community sentiment for the proposed suburb boundary amendment. Residents of Branxton and North Rothbury are encouraged to view the proposal on the GNB website. Here they can support or object the proposal and also make a submission on the proposed changes.
