Project Information
Notice is given that Cessnock City Council in accordance with the New South Wales Roads Act 1993 is seeking public comment in regards to a road naming proposal in connection with the Huntlee Town Centre located at 1 Triton Boulevard, North Rothbury NSW 2335.
The proposal names are located within Huntlee and include;
Stonecutter Road. Road Name Origin: The name Stonecutter is derived from the historical association of the locality with stone‑cutting and related industrial activities. Stonecutting was a skilled trade involving the quarrying, shaping and dressing of stone for use in buildings, roads, and public infrastructure. The name directly references this occupation and the materials and working practices historically linked to the area.
Millstone Road. Road Name Origin: The name Millstone refers to a heavy circular stone traditionally used for grinding grain in mills, particularly flour mills. Millstones were central to early agricultural processing and industrial production, representing one of the earliest forms of mechanised manufacturing supporting settlement and town development. The term reflects both the material used (stone) and its functional role within historic industrial and production environments.
