Yes. Residents adjacent to proposed planting locations will receive a letter outlining the project and providing information about the proposed street tree.

Property owners and residents will have the opportunity to contact Council regarding a proposed planting location before works commence.

Street trees make our neighbourhoods cooler, healthier and more enjoyable. Trees clean the air, filter stormwater, provide shade, support wildlife, and help cool hard surfaces like concrete and asphalt. They also create greener, more inviting streets that support community wellbeing.

Your street has been identified as a priority area under Council’s Tree Strategy due to low existing canopy cover within the verge and with suitable opportunities for additional planting.

Council's contractor will undertake watering and establishment maintenance during the first 12 months. Council will continue ongoing management after this period.

All planting locations are assessed before planting. Trees will only be installed where appropriate clearances from driveways, footpaths, utilities and other infrastructure can be achieved.

Council will monitor all plantings during the establishment period and replace trees that do not survive.

Species have been selected based on verge width, nearby infrastructure, underground services, overhead powerlines, soil conditions and long-term growth characteristics. Native, non-deciduous trees have been chosen to minimise leaf-drop.

Trees are selected well in advance to suit local conditions, align with Council’s Tree Strategy and NSW Government grant funding guidelines and are ordered through specialist nurseries. 

If Council does not receive a response within two (2) weeks, we will assume you support the planting program and proceed with the project.

Trees will be planted within Council owned road verges and positioned to maintain safe distances from infrastructure and services.
