Stage 2 Wollombi Road Upgrade REF
Cessnock City Council is upgrading Wollombi Road to make it safer, improve traffic flow and support more vehicles - both now and in the future.
Stage 1 is already under construction.
With funding now secured, Stage 2 is moving into the planning and design phase. This stage completes the Wollombi Road project with a 1km upgrade between West Avenue and Allandale Road, Cessnock.
The Review of Environmental Factors (REF) is the planning document for Stage 2. It is required under Part 5 of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979.
The REF for Stage 2 will be on public display for six weeks, ending on Tuesday 15 July 2025.
It was prepared to assess how the proposed work might affect the environment.
Key changes include removing the roundabout near Aldi and upgrading the Mount View Road intersection. We're also adding fewer traffic lights than in the design options report previously placed on exhibition as part of Stage 1.
We encourage the community to share their views on the planning document.
Your feedback matters. By having your say, you help shape a better project that reflects the values and priorities of the Cessnock community.
