1. What is a Plan of Management?

A Plan of Management (PoM) is a document prepared under the Local Government Act 1993 that outlines how Council will manage and use public land classified as community landThis Draft Generic Parks PoM captures all the parks owned or managed by Council in the LGA. Plans of Management help ensure that community land, such as parks, are managed in a consistent and transparent way for the benefit of the community.

    2. Why has Council developed this Plan of Management?

Council has developed this Draft Generic Parks PoM to provide a consistent framework for managing all community land categorised as a park across the LGA. This approach ensures compliance with the Local Government Act 1993 which require Council’s to prepare PoMs for community land, and the Crown Land Management Act 2016 which requires Councils to include Crown Land that they manage within a PoM.

    3. Does this Plan of Management propose specific changes or upgrades to any of Council’s parks?

No. The Generic PoM provides a framework for managing all parks consistently. It does not propose physical changes or redevelopments to individual parks. Any future projects would require separate planning, design, and community consultation. This Plan helps ensure that Council-managed parks continue to be used in line with their permitted purpose and sets parameters for future development and uses.
