Cessnock City Council has prepared a Planning Proposal, which relates to land zoned Rural (RU2 Rural Landscape and RU5 Village) and land that is not serviced by reticulated sewer in Cessnock Local Government Area (LGA). The Proposal seeks to carry out the following amendments to the Cessnock Local Environmental Plan 2011:

  • make changes to zone objectives;
  • make changes to development types that are permitted in RU2 and RU5 zones;
  • make changes to how and where rural zones are applied in the Cessnock LGA, addressing inconsistent zoning and minimum lot sizes, and;
  • make changes to minimum lot size clause relating to land requiring on-site waste water management systems

The Planning Proposal is on public exhibition from 14 September 2022 to 26 October 2022 and can be viewed at the following locations:
