Project Background
Cessnock City Council is working with landscape architects from Moir Studio to develop a concept plan for improvements to Kitchener Poppethead Park.
Kitchener Poppethead Park is a unique regional park in the village of Kitchener, well-loved by both residents and visitors. It’s a place for:
play
bushwalking
bike riding
picnics
social gatherings
community events
The park also holds historical significance as the former site of the Aberdare Central Colliery, with key heritage structures still present in its scenic natural setting.
Project Update (May 2025)
The community came together to give feedback at the in person pop up on Thursday 20 February 2025 at Kitchener Poppethead Park. Moir Studio took the feedback and incorporated it into the draft concept plan that is now open for submissions from the community.
