FAQs
What opportunities will I have to provide feedback?
Community members will have the opportunity to provide their feedback through an online survey. The survey will help Council understand how open space is being used by the community and the importance attributed to key features of open space and recreation facilities.
The draft Recreation and Open Space Strategic Plan will then be placed on public exhibition, offering an opportunity for formal feedback before being finalised.
How will my feedback be used?
Feedback we receive from the community will be used to create the Draft Recreation and Open Space Strategy which is anticipated to be on publicly exhibition for feedback from August 2026.
Why does Council need a Recreation and Open Space Strategic Plan?
The plan is a strategic tool which will assist Council to understand how much open space we will need as the population grows, where it should be located, and what type of facility is appropriate. It will help Council plan and prioritise resources, strengthen our evidence base when seeking external funding and clearly justify requirements for developers to provide or fund new or upgraded open space and recreation facilities.
