We're planning for the next five years of waste services in Cessnock, and we want your feedback on the Draft Waste and Resource Recovery Strategy 2026-2031.

Last October and November we reached out to the community with a waste survey, both online and in person, to hear the things that are most important to you when it comes to waste services. Your survey feedback was compiled into a report which was then used to inform the creation of the Draft Waste and Resource Recovery Strategy 2026-31.

The below are the top 3 takeaways in the Draft Waste Strategy:

  1. Planning to keep weekly collection for red-waste and green-organics bins
  2. Detailed investigation of bulk kerbside pick-up
  3. Aspiring to divert 80% of waste from landfill.

Important documents and information:

The Draft Strategy will be on exhibition Friday 21 March - Friday 2 May
