Project Background

The Draft Waste Management Development Control Plan (DCP) will replace the existing Section C5 of the Cessnock DCP 2010. The Draft Waste Management DCP includes a series of controls to ensure appropriately designed waste separation, storage and collection facilities are provided when submitting a development application under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 (EP&A Act).

The Draft Waste Management DCP introduces the following

  • Development controls for waste management based on proposed landuse/activity and align with definitions under the EP&A Act.
  • Waste Management Guidelines for categories of landuse/activity

A series of draft Waste Management Guidelines provide detailed guidance in relation to how waste management systems, including storage and collection, can be designed for the proposed development type and draw from a range of sources including the NSW EPA. These draft Waste Management Guidelines provide waste management considerations when designing your development for approval.

The Dictionary included as part of the Cessnock DCP 2010 has also been updated with new definitions that align with the terms within the Draft Waste Management DCP.
